The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, received today a delegation from the National People’s Congress Social Development Affairs Committee of the People’s Republic of China.

The meeting exchanged views on the overall bilateral relations between the Republic of North Macedonia and the People’s Republic of China, as well as on the possibilities for cooperation between the two countries. At the meeting, it was concluded that the relations between the two countries are developing in an upward trend.

President Pendarovski stressed at the meeting that the strategic goal of the Republic of North Macedonia is membership in the European Union and NATO, but also that the state aims at deepening the cooperation with the People’s Republic of China. In that context, North Macedonia is an active participant in the 17 + 1 initiative for cooperation between the People’s Republic of China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

President Pendarovski thanked for the overall support and assistance from the People’s Republic of China for the Republic of North Macedonia, especially in the sphere of education. At the meeting, it was concluded that the future mutual abolition of visas, which is in the phase of alignment, will be an additional impetus in the promotion of relations between North Macedonia and the People’s Republic of China.

The representatives of the Social Development Affairs Committee praised the agreement reached between the Republic of North Macedonia and the Hellenic Republic and expressed support for the membership of North Macedonia in the European Union.
