Let me cordially greet you and welcome you to our country and wish you successful execution of your highly responsible mission.

We highly appreciate your rich diplomatic experience and consider it to be a significant contribution to the enrichment of our friendly relations. I assure you that in the exercise of your diplomatic duties you shall enjoy our full cooperation and assistance.

Dear Ambassador,

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Finland in continuity are building friendly and partnership relations and I can say with satisfaction that we have achieved successful development of bilateral relations in several spheres of social life.

At the same time, I believe that there is still untapped potential between our two countries for further deepening of cooperation and mutual communication, and, in that direction, I am convinced that your engagement will leave a lasting mark in upgrading the friendly relations and cooperation between our countries.

\The support from the Republic of Finland for the integration of the countries in the region of Southeast Europe into the European structures, and thus of the Republic of North Macedonia, has always been of great importance. In this context, I express my hope that the progress of my country, reflected in the European Commission Report, will be valued and strengthened by a positive decision during the Finnish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Excellency,

The Republic of North Macedonia nurtures the same European values as the Republic of Finland. I am sure that the European commitment in the future will be a strong connecting bridge in the relations between the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Finland.

I assure you that the Republic of North Macedonia remains committed to achieving its strategic priorities, confident that the European and Euro-Atlantic perspective is a guarantee of prosperity, stability and well-being in the Balkans.

I would especially like to emphasize the interest in intensifying the cooperation between our two countries in the field of economy. I believe that the measures and activities undertaken by the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia for continuous improvement of the investment and the overall business climate will attract the attention of the Finnish business community.

On this occasion, I would like to ask you, on my behalf and on behalf of the citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia, to convey the assurances of highest consideration to His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Finland, Mr. Sauli Niinisto, with sincere wishes for his good health. At the same time, I would like to take this opportunity to extend my invitation to His Excellency, the President of Finland, to visit the Republic of North Macedonia.

Address by Kimmo Lahdevirta, newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Finland to the Republic of North Macedonia, resident in Belgrade

Your Excellency,

It is my great pleasure and honor to be received by you, Mr. President, to present my credentials as the new Ambassador of Finland to the Republic of North Macedonia.

Mr. President,

As a starting point, I want to assure you of my commitment to continue the work of my predecessors to further deepen and widen the relations between our two countries.

I visited your country in mid-1990ies, during the time when a Finnish General commanded the UN peace-keeping operation here. I’m deeply impressed by the development your country has been able to achieve since then, both internally and internationally.

Secondly, as Finland is now holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, I want to assure you that we will act as honest brokers and do everything in our power to achieve concrete results during our Presidency.

Finland strongly believes that a credible policy of enlargement is an investment to the peace, stability, security and prosperity in Europe. In line with the Commission recommendations, Finland supports the opening of accession negotiations with the Republic of North Macedonia. I hope and believe that the EU Council of Ministers will make a positive decision about this no later than October.

Your Excellency, with these words it is my privilege to hand over to you, Sir, my Letters of Credence and the Letters of Recall of my predecessor.
