Message by the President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, on the occasion of the Jewish holiday Yom Kippur

9 October 2019 | Press Releases

The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, on the occasion of the Jewish holiday Yom Kippur, sent a message to the President of the Jewish Community in the Republic of North Macedonia, Berta Romano – Nikolic and to the members of the Jewish Community in the Republic of North Macedonia.

Respected Ms. Berta Romano – Nikolic,

Yom Kippur is the holiest Jewish holiday. I personally wish you and all members of the Jewish community in the Republic of North Macedonia from the bottom of my hearth to spend the holiday of repentance, redemption and reconciliation in good health, happiness and love. Praying to God and fasting as pillars of this holiday will bring you spiritual peace and inspire good deeds.

Allow me to emphasize the importance of the Jewish community for our country. Although small in number, your community has an indispensable role in building the Macedonian coexistence and in fostering respect and understanding among members of different ethnic and religious groups. Your traditions and customs have left a deep seal on the rest of the communities, immersing themselves permanently in the values of our society. On this great holiday, I wish we continue working jointly towards the prosperity of our common homeland and contributing to its progress and well-being.

G’mar chatima tova.

Stevo Pendarovski
President of the Republic of North Macedonia
