The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, received today the Ambassador of the French Republic, Christian Thimonier.
The meeting exchanged views on the overall bilateral relations between the Republic of North Macedonia and the French Republic, as well as information on the current situation in both countries and the latest developments in the region.
President Pendarovski expressed satisfaction with the development of the cooperation between the two countries, characterized by friendship and mutual trust. President Pendarovski stressed that the Republic of North Macedonia sees a sincere friend and ally in the French Republic in the achievement of the strategic goals.
After yesterday’s publication of the European Commission Progress Report on the Republic of North Macedonia for 2019, President Pendarovski expressed expectation that the European Council will, according to the recommendation of the European Commission, take a decision to start the accession negotiations for membership.
In order to accomplish the next step, setting a date for the start of accession negotiations for EU membership, we expect the support from the French Republic, President Pendarovski emphasized at the meeting.
