The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, received the letters of credence of the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of North Macedonia, Hasan Mehmet Sekizkok.
Expressing satisfaction with the excellent bilateral relations and the successful cooperation between the two friendly countries in the spirit of strong traditional friendship and partnership, President Pendarovski said that the two countries share common values of tolerance, mutual understanding and respect, values that are key pillars in building better and a more prosperous future for the citizens of both countries.
President Pendarovski expressed gratitude for the overall support of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of North Macedonia, above all for the firm and open support on the Euro-Atlantic path of our country, adding that the existing NATO alliance will be transformed from natural into official and the two countries will continue to work together in providing peace and stability in the region, but also for Europe as a whole.
“We remain vigilant in our Region, which is often and in different forms at the strike of broader geostrategic games and threats, therefore cooperation, trust and coordination in the fight against terrorism, organized crime, illegal migration, cyber threats and similar phenomena are a priority of us all”, the President said.
Expressing his gratitude for the cordial welcome, Ambassador Sekizkok assessed that the entrenched historical and human ties, shared democratic values and economic goals will help strengthen cooperation between the two countries and said that in the coming period, besides trade and investment, mutual cooperation will increase and deepen in many other areas.
“Turkey sees North Macedonia as an important and valued partner. The development of our partnership is also in the interest of the Balkans and the Euro-Atlantic family”, Ambassador Sekizkok said.
He added that one of the basic foundations of close relations and cooperation is the Turkish community that has existed in these territories for centuries and has been working hard for the development and well-being of North Macedonia, expressing confidence that Turkey will continue its support for North Macedonia with a view to raising the level of prosperity of the citizens of the country.
President Pendarovski wished the newly-appointed Ambassador success in his diplomatic post.
