President Pendarovski visits the Municipality of Debar

The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, as part of the “Face to Face with the President” project, visited today the Municipality of Debar.

At the beginning of the visit, President Pendarovski visited the Bigorski Monastery of St. John the Baptist. At the meeting with the Abbot of the Monastery, Archimandrite Parthenius, President Pendarovski was informed about the preparatory activities to mark the 1000th anniversary of the Monastery’s existence in 2020. During his visit, President Pendarovski met with a group of protégés who reside in the Monastery and are treated for a variety of addictions.

President Pendarovski visited the natural spring water filling plant ML Gari – Maya, located on the Boskov Most – Izvor regional road. At the meeting with the management, the work of the company was presented, which has been operating in the Macedonian market for three years. The future plans of the company for expansion of production capacities were also presented to President Pendarovski.

In the Red Cross Municipal Board in Debar, President Pendarovski met with Ramadan Telkiu, a blood donor, who has donated blood more than 160 times. Telkiu is hlder of numerous recognitions for his humanity. In 2008 he was awarded the Medal of Merit for Macedonia. At the meeting with the representatives of the Red Cross Municipal Board, President Pendarovski was informed about the ongoing activities, as well as with the challenges they face in their work.

During the visit, President Pendarovski visited the Isakovski family, known for the cherry wood handmade zurna. President Pendarovski was informed that except in the Debar region, there is interest in handicrafts of the family all over the world.

In Debar, President Pendarovski visits the company Slice, a pizza ordering platform serving pizzerias in the United States market. The company employs over 500 young people in its offices in Debar, Skopje and Ohrid, and plans to expand its capacity. President Pendarovski cited the company as an example showing that both in their home country, opportunities can be created for profitable business and contribution to the community development by creating new jobs.

President Pendarovski met with local journalists at the Debar Center for Culture, who briefed him on the current challenges they face in their work.

The “Face to Face with the President” project was announced in President Pendarovski’s election program. The aim is through visits to settlements in North Macedonia, President Pendarovski to meet as many citizens as possible, and to listen closely to the problems and challenges the citizens face, as well as ideas for overcoming them.
