At the meeting, President Siljanovska-Davkova expressed the view that tourism, as a branch, not only brings income, but also promotes the Macedonian natural wealth and cultural heritage to the world, as our comparative advantage.
For her, a small country like ours, with exceptional natural beauties and valuable cultural and historical assets, has great and real chances of being a desired tourist destination not only during the summer months, but throughout the year. Permanent obligation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, other ministries, but also local government units, as well as the Agency for Promotion and Support of Tourism remains is indeed to create the necessary prerequisites.
Stefanoska informed the President about the work of the Agency, which was established in 2008, with an emphasis on the last few months since she has been in this position, pointing out the successes and failures, the current problems and challenges it faces.
She pointed out that it is necessary to create a tourism development strategy, complementary to that for culture as a guarantee of success.
The interlocutors agreed that linking culture and tourism in one ministry is a step forward in the strategic approach to their development.
