President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova received the Letters of Credence of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates resident in Rome, Abdullah Ali Ateeq Obaid Alsubousi.
Conveying greetings from the President of the Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ambassador said that in his work he will focus on maintaining good political relations, as well as expanding and deepening relations in other areas.
Siljanovska-Davkova said that the act of presenting credentials is the beginning of a new chapter in the strengthening and further promotion of friendly relations, which the two countries have cherished for three decades. She emphasized the interest in intensifying cooperation in the economic, trade and investment fields and expressed confidence that businessmen and entrepreneurs from the UAE will take advantage of the investment opportunities that the Macedonian Government offers to foreign investors. Equally important, according to her, is cooperation in education, science, culture, health, tourism and agriculture, as well as contacts between business communities and chambers of commerce.
Discussing the mutual trade exchange and direct investments of the Emirates, which in 2023 amounted to USD 3.11 million, Siljanovska-Davkova said that economic relations do not correspond to the excellent political relations and the two countries should work on their harmonization.
At the meeting, the interlocutors agreed that by opening an embassy of the Emirates in our country, which would also include several countries in the region, the environment for cooperation would be institutionally improved.
Wishing him successful performance of his prestigious and responsible ambassadorial post, the President extended an invitation through him to the President of the Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to visit the country.
