President Stevo Pendarovski, as part of the “Face to Face with the President” project, today, at the Cultural Center “Trajko Prokopiev” in Kumanovo, met with the actors: Ljubica Gojkovic, Gjorgi Andov and Ilija Strumenikovski, who were part of the cast of the iconic play “begalka” by Vasil Iljoski in 1971.
The occasion for the meeting is the 95th anniversary of the premiere performance of the play, which was first performed in the distant 1928 under the name “Lence Kumanovce”, as a dramatic work in 5 acts where Iljoski’s tendencies to show the uniqueness and colorfulness of the Macedonian language come to the fore.
The three actors shared with President Pendarovski their memories from half a century ago when they performed this play in the Kumanovo theater, with their acting journeys through the time and introduced him to the brightest moments of their rich acting careers.
President Pendarovski, expressing recognition and respect for the impressive biography and multi-decade contribution of the three actors in the theater and film arts, said that with their authentic performance of the characters of Lence, Bosko and Petko in “Begalka” they are permanently embedded in the history of the Macedonian theater and culture.
