President Stevo Pendarovski addressed today the ambassadors and heads of diplomatic and consular missions of the Republic of North Macedonia abroad, as part of the annual Ambassadorial Council, which is organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia.
In his address, President Pendarovski made a brief review of the domestic political situation this year, pointing to the economic challenges and the energy crisis, as well as the fight against corruption.
In the context of foreign policy aspects, the President spoke about the beginning of negotiations with the EU, the attempts to restore confidence in European integration and increase support for membership in the Union, as well as about the next steps in the negotiations.
The President also referred to the war in Ukraine and the situation in the region from a security point of view, emphasizing the positioning of North Macedonia in the wider region and the European Union’s increased focus on the region. The President also discussed the upcoming Macedonian chairmanship of the OSCE, as well as the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation with the countries in which the heads of diplomatic-consular missions are accredited.
