President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova held a video conference today at the “Straso Pindzur” barracks in Petrovec with members of the Army deployed in peacekeeping operations “KFOR” in Kosovo, UNIFIL in Lebanon, ALTEA in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the missions in Romania, Bulgaria and Latvia.
In her address to the peacekeepers and their families, the President wished them a happy New Year’s holiday and a happy New Year.
“I am proud of them, but I am equally proud of their beautiful families and children. I wished them to complete their work successfully, believing in their ability and determination. I enjoyed the company of their family members, and especially the wonderful children for whom the Ministry of Defense prepared a New Year’s program”, President Siljanovska-Davkova said after the conversation with the members of the Army and the meeting with their family members.
The following is the integral text of President Siljanovska-Davkova’s address.
I simply must repeat what I have already said in the Assembly. I am proud of the Army. I am not a militant figure, I am a peacemaker, I am a Gandhian. However, what I saw during the fires, what I saw during the meetings, what I see and read from the reports truly convinces me that we have an army, not only within NATO, but also a respected army. I am proud of these people, because they are on peacekeeping missions, but I am most proud here of their wonderful families and children. I really thank the Minister of Defense, because what is happening here will bring us together with their parents and I think that there will be no one prouder than them of their fathers in the missions. But the proudest of them all is the state of Macedonia. Together, we will exchange thoughts, I am convinced that they are all right, I am convinced that everything they do, they do for the sake of humanity and when someone is on a peacekeeping mission, it should really be respected. It should be appreciated and I think that we all do it, especially me.
May you complete your work professionally, disciplined as you should. May you return healthy and alive, may you be in constant contact with us and your families, may you be sure that in your absence we will take care of them. Our thoughts are with you. What you are doing is truly a matter of great respect. I sincerely wish you the most beautiful 2025, to you, to your children, to your families.
Thank you.
