The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Stevo Pendarovski, attended today the annual briefing on the combat readiness of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia in 2023 at the House of the Army in Skopje.
In the presence of the Minister of Defense, Slavjanka Petrovska, and Lieutenant-Colonel General Vasko Gjurchinovski, the representatives of the Army informed about the implementation of the plans and tasks and the situation in the Army in the course of 2023.
President Pendarovski was informed of the state and degree of implementation of activities in the areas of personnel management, training and exercises, operations in the country and abroad, equipment and infrastructure, military planning and force structure, modernization, budgeting and financing.
President and Commander-in-Chief Stevo Pendarovski said that in 2023 the members of the Army proved their professionalism, dedication and readiness. He added that the Army responsibly fulfills the obligations arising from NATO membership, cooperation with the bodies and committees within NATO and other armies and emphasized his expectation that the equipping and modernization of the Army will continue in the following years.
President Pendarovski reaffirmed his commitment to further raising and maintaining quality standards and conditions for work and service of all members of the Army and to achieve the set goal – to allocate 2% of GDP for defense.
Briefings are a regular annual obligation of the Chief of General Staff to the Commander-in-Chief.
