President Stevo Pendarovski received today Baiba Braze, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy, who is visiting the country on the occasion of participation in a conference for NATO communicators, hosted by the Republic of North Macedonia.
The meeting discussed the cooperation between NATO and North Macedonia, the new strategic concept of the Alliance, as well as the war in Ukraine and the role and importance of NATO’s strategic communications.
In that regard, opinions were exchanged on the communication functions and plans of the Alliance, on information activities during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, cooperation with partners in this area and the digital communications.
President Pendarovski said that North Macedonia, using the mechanisms available to us as a NATO member, will continue to actively fight in order to strengthen resistance to misinformation, prevent and reduce the harmful effects of fake news, which undermine the system and the collective security.
He added that continuous development and improvement of strategic communications, which represent one of the key security capacities, is necessary, and that the country will continue to support the joint efforts of the Alliance in order to create public opinion based on factually accurate information.
