President Stevo Pendarovski, as part of his participation in the 78th General Assembly of the United Nations in New York, yesterday afternoon attended a meeting organized for the leaders of the countries of the Western Balkans by the Vice President of the European Commission and High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union, Josep Borrell.
At the meeting, the leaders discussed the current situation and the European perspectives of the countries of the Western Balkans, the ongoing reform processes, as well as the political and economic trends in the region in the context of geopolitical developments.
In the talks, the necessity of quick implementation of strategic decisions regarding the policy of expansion and integration of the Western Balkans into the European Union was pointed out in the interest of the security, stability and progress of the region and at the same time maintaining the credibility of the EU.
At the same time, the interlocutors exchanged information on the measures and activities undertaken within the framework of the common foreign and security policy of the EU, in response to the Russian military invasion of Ukraine.
