President Stevo Pendarovski, on the occasion of the great Christian holiday Resurrection of Christ – Easter, sent a congratulation message to Dr. Kiro Stojanov, Bishop of Skopje and Eparch of Strumica and Skopje, and to all Christian believers who celebrate Easter according to the Gregorian calendar.
Dear Believers,
I avail myself of this opportunity to congratulate you on the greatest Christian holiday – Easter.
My sincere wish is for you to celebrate the feast of Christ’s Resurrection in good health, filled with peace, harmony, joy and happiness. It is during these holidays, inspired by Christ’s victory over death, that we renew our faith and hope and, invigorated, do good deeds and give unconditional love.
Unfortunately, we are celebrating this Easter again faced with numerous economic threats, still unrecovered from the COVID-19 pandemic, and we are all witnessing a fierce military conflict on our continent in which the most vulnerable suffer. Even in the 21st century, humanity is threatened by intolerance and hatred and cannot find a way to peacefully resolve the conflicts and misunderstandings.
I hope that the light of Easter will be an incentive and inspiration for us to persevere and not to lose humanity and virtue in the struggle for existence. Let us reach out to all who are in need and seek help, following Jesus’ example and learning from his words.
