President Stevo Pendarovski sent a congratulation message to the citizens on the occasion of 23 October – the Day of the Macedonian Revolutionary Struggle.
Dear citizens,
On this day, exactly 130 years ago, six young people founded the Macedonian revolutionary organization that managed to unite the bravest and most educated people of their time around a common goal – a free Macedonian state. This young and progressive generation managed to strengthen the faith of the Macedonian people that only with their own strength can they fight for freedom and justice.
Although due to neighboring propaganda, pressures and aspirations, our revolutionary struggle had both successes and failures, the goal remained the same. The Ilinden uprising gave the Krushevo Republic, while the National Liberation and Anti-Fascist Struggle – the state-building ASNOM.
As the struggle of the revolutionary generation was for a free and just state, so our struggle today must be against corruption, nepotism and crime that result in mistrust, social injustice and mass exodus of young people. Just like 130 years ago, today, we must overcome our divisions and unite around a common goal – a democratic and functional rule of law with equal opportunities for a dignified life and progress for each of its citizens.
Congratulations on 23 October – the Day of the Macedonian Revolutionary Struggle!
Stevo Pendarovski
