The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, sent a congratulation letter to the members of the Vlach community on the occasion of the celebration of the National Day of the Vlachs, May 23.
Dear fellow citizens,
It gives me special pleasure to address my first congratulation
letter as President of the Republic of North Macedonia to the members of the Vlach
community on the occasion of May 23, the National Day of the Vlachs.
It was on this date, 114 years ago, within the Ottoman Empire, that the ethnic, cultural and linguistic uniqueness of the Vlachs was recognized. With this, the Vlachs formally received confirmation of their historical uniqueness and the opportunity to strengthen their ethnic identity and to develop their own culture and tradition.
I would like to take this opportunity as President of all citizens to thank you for your unselfish contribution to building unity and mutual respect in the multicultural and multiethnic, democratic Republic of North Macedonia. Together, united, may we continue to build one society for all and zealously contribute to the welfare and prosperity of our common homeland!
