The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, on the occasion of April 8 – International Roma Day, sent a congratulation note to the members of the Roma community in the Republic of North Macedonia.
Dear fellow citizens,
As President of the Republic of North Macedonia, I am pleased to send my congratulation note on the occasion of April 8 – International Roma Day, the day of the beginnings of the Roma movement when, in 1971, at the First World Roma Congress it was confirmed that Roma have their own flag, anthem, language, culture and are officially called Roma. With this note, I would like to express my respect for your contribution to building and preserving our homeland as part of the army, police, educational institutions, health institutions, business and economy, law and justice, administration, diplomacy, politics, civil society. As before, we are all part of the daily struggle to ensure a dignified and quality life for all in the Republic of North Macedonia, regardless of gender, ethnic, religious, political or any other affiliation.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Not only today, but all other days of the year, as a country we must not forget the challenges and needs of the Roma and all other citizens in our multicultural society. We all have a huge obligation to improve the integration of the Roma, to create a society in which discrimination and hate speech will remain in the past and we will respect the human rights of all citizens of our homeland. I openly support an environment in which all policy makers, institutions and citizens are proactive in solving the problems you face and we all will fulfill our obligation and make the most of our capacities and competencies in this regard.
A pillar of our stability, development and prosperity, as a multiethnic society, is that together we are in this struggle and together we are building the path to equal rights and duties before the law for all citizens equally.
