The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, received today the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Thomas Norbert Gerberich, at a farewell meeting.
At the meeting, opinions were exchanged on the development of the overall bilateral relations between the two countries. President Pendarovski thanked for the strong and open support of Germany in achieving the strategic goals of the Republic of North Macedonia and expressed satisfaction that one of them – the NATO membership – was realized during Ambassador Gerberich’s term, and a decision was adopted by the European Council for the start of accession negotiations for membership in the European Union. President Pendarovski expressed hope for further strong German support in the country’s reform efforts, in the context of European Union membership aspirations.
At the meeting, President Pendarovski reaffirmed the position that for the Republic of North Macedonia it is extremely important to build friendly relations with the Federal Republic of Germany, through an honest and trustworthy approach. According to President Pendarovski, the two countries have excellent bilateral relations, both politically and in several other areas of common interest, such as defense and security, economy and education. For North Macedonia, President Pendarovski said, it is vital that Germany tops the list of largest trading partners.
President Pendarovski thanked Ambassador Gerberich for his overall diplomatic engagement and wished him further professional success.
