President Stevo Pendarovski received today, in a farewell meeting, Carlo Romeo, Ambassador of the Italian Republic to the Republic of North Macedonia.
The bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed at the meeting, and it was concluded that there is a successful development of cooperation between the two countries in all areas of mutual interest. The interlocutors stressed that the two countries nurture traditionally friendly relations, with a high level of understanding and trust, as well as excellent political dialogue. They reaffirmed their interest in further intensifying of the economic relations and trade, as well as cooperation in the fields of defense and security, education, culture and tourism.
President Pendarovski stressed that North Macedonia highly appreciates the constructive, clear and unreserved support of the Italian Republic on our path to full membership in the European Union. The interlocutors agreed that the integration of North Macedonia and the Western Balkan countries into the European Union and NATO is in the interest of the regional security and prosperity.
Wishing success in the future professional engagement of Ambassador Romeo, President Pendarovski thanked for his efforts in our country so far, emphasizing the successful realization of the official visit to the Italian Republic in November 2019 and expressed hope for a return official visit of the Italian President to the Republic of North Macedonia.
