President Stevo Pendarovski received today Fatmir Bytyqi, Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Economic Affairs, Coordination of Economic Sectors and Investment, Rachel Galloway, Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Narine Sahakyan, Permanent Representative of UNDP, and Rossana Dudziak, UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of North Macedonia, regarding the process of drafting the “National Development Strategy”.
At the meeting, agreement was reached and synchronization of the initiative undertaken by President Pendarovski “MKD2030” with the process of creating the “National Development Strategy 2021-2041”.
The process will be based on the principles of national ownership, broad consultation, integration of existing EU integration processes and the 2030 Agenda, and innovation.
“NDS 2021-2041” and “MKD2030” are a unique comprehensive process for long-term planning, monitoring and upgrading, which includes and will continue to include representatives of all segments of society.
The operational structure of the process will ensure involvement at the highest political, administrative, scientific, business and social levels and will be led by the National Development Council, which will be chaired by the Head of the State.
The Prime Minister and the Speaker, party coordinators in the Assembly, as well as representatives of the academy, business, workers, NGOs and youth organizations will participate in this Council.
The first phase of the creation of this strategic document will be funded by the British Embassy in Skopje, with technical support from the United Nations through the UNDP, and will result in a methodology and operational structure that will be applied in the development of the strategy, which will be the second phase of the project.
