President Stevo Pendarovski received today the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of North Macedonia, Ambassador David Geer, who handed him the Report of the European Commission on the progress of the Republic of North Macedonia for 2022.
At the meeting, President Pendarovski said that this year’s report has special significance, as it is the first after the beginning of the accession negotiations with the European Union and the beginning of the screening.
President Pendarovski assessed that the Report provides a detailed overview of the situation in the society, but also represents a road map for the future work of the institutions and areas in which more attention must be paid.
The accession process, according to President Pendarovski, requires that all capacities are aimed at implementation of the necessary reforms, and in that context he pointed to the need for all social actors to contribute to this process.
President Pendarovski said that the opening of negotiations with North Macedonia is a good opportunity for the European Union to demonstrate its commitment to the integration of the countries of the Western Balkans, as the best response to the growing Euroscepticism in the region.
