President Stevo Pendarovski met today in Mladi Hub with the team “Laigorians”, winners of the annual Macedonian Super Final of the “NASA Space Apps Challenge 2023” hackathon, organized by the American space research agency NASA.
At the meeting, President Pendarovski was informed about the project that brought first award to the participants, which, with the help of artificial intelligence, using real data from satellites of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), enables monitoring, management and timely reaction in the event of forest fires.
Sharing the impressions and experiences gained from participating in this year’s international challenge for space applications, the winning team referred to the motive for choosing the area in which the application was developed, which should help protect the environment.
This year’s hackathon, which lasted 72 hours, was an opportunity for coders, scientists, designers, makers and technologists from around the world to come together and use open data, from NASA and its partners, to create solutions to major challenges globally.
Congratulating them on the exceptional results achieved, President Pendarovski wished them success in their next challenge – the international competition in the USA, in which teams from all over the world will compete.
