In the Cabinet of the President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, a meeting was held between the presidents of the political parties who independently won mandates in the last parliamentary elections, which discussed the holding of early elections. It was decided by consensus that the health of the citizens remains a priority.
With regard to further steps, it was agreed to consult the Commission on Infectious Diseases regarding the measures and protocols that should be observed during the election process during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The State Election Commission is required to submit an opinion on the timelines needed to complete the preparations for the election process, and the OSCE/ODIHR Office will also be consulted on the timeline for deployment of the observation mission for the elections.
At the beginning of next week, there will be another leadership meeting to discuss further steps.
