President Stevo Pendarovski received today the Letters of Credence of Eduardas Borisovas, newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of North Macedonia, resident in Zagreb.
At the ceremony of handing over the Letters of Credence, President Pendarovski expressed his satisfaction with the highly developed bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, which he considered to be characterized by intense political dialogue and partnership relations, with a possibility for increased trade and economic cooperation.
“With the opening of the Office in Skopje of the Embassy of Lithuania in Zagreb, in November 2023, we expect deepening of mutual cooperation and intensification of political, economic, security, cultural and social exchanges between our countries. In this direction, we wish the newly opened Office to grow into an embassy in the near future, which will make it the first embassy of a Baltic country in Skopje”, President Pendarovski said.
Pointing out that Lithuania is an important partner of North Macedonia and an ally within NATO, President Pendarovski expressed his immense gratitude for the unreserved and vocal support that the Republic of Lithuania continuously gives to our European integration process.
Ambassador Borisovas, at the ceremony of handing over the credentials, expressed his firm conviction that a secure Europe requires a strong security architecture, where both large and small countries feel firmly protected by international law, covered by the NATO security umbrella.
“United by common goals to achieve a secure, united and prosperous Europe, Lithuania’s position is firm and clear: North Macedonia must become a member of the European Union as soon as possible. We are ready to support your country’s efforts and continue to share our expertise on EU integration”, Ambassador Borisovas said.
President Pendarovski wished Ambassador Borisovas a successful performance of his responsible office.
