16 September 2021 | Press Releases

President Stevo Pendarovski, on the occasion of the Jewish holiday Yom Kippur, sent a message to the President of the Jewish Community in the Republic of North Macedonia, Berta Romano-Nikolic, and to all members of the Jewish community in the Republic of North Macedonia.

Dear Mrs. Berta Romano-Nikolic,

Distinguished members of the Jewish community in the Republic of North Macedonia,

Allow me, on my personal behalf and on behalf of all the citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia, to wish you to spend the celebration of the holiest Jewish holiday Yom Kippur – the feast of reconciliation, repentance before God and forgiveness, in spiritual peace, prayer and hope.

These days dedicated to fasting and nurturing tradition are necessary to maintain the sense of peace of mind, especially today when the modern way of life brings unpredictability and uncertainty.

The tribulations of the past, intertwined with the challenges of the future, are most strongly felt in the days dedicated to God, and they are extremely important for each of us individually, but also for the strength of our communities and society as a whole.

The Republic of North Macedonia is grateful for the richness of the religious and ethnic traditions of its citizens, among which the contribution of the Jewish community is especially important.

Addressing you and all members of the Jewish community wishes for a blessed Yom Kippur, I wish this time of year to bring you peace, love and happiness.

Stevo Pendarovski
