President Stevo Pendarovski, on the occasion of the International Francophonie Day – March 20, sent the following message:
Today we celebrate the International Francophonie Day. For the Republic of North Macedonia, membership in the International Organization of Francophonie is another opportunity to affirm the universal values of peace, democracy, human rights and cooperation between nations, as well as multilingualism and cultural diversity, through the study, promotion and honoring of the French language. Values we believe in and practice on a national level and in a wider international context. Values that are more precious today than ever before.
Francophonie broadens our horizons and strengthens cultural exchange with the world. In the days when we celebrate 100 years since the birth of the great Macedonian poet, Aco Shopov – himself a francophone, as well as 50 years since the foundation of the department of Macedonian language in Paris, we also realize the role of the French language and the Francophonie, as noble fellow travelers and affirmers of the Macedonian language and Macedonian literature and overall cultural creativity. That fruitful friendship and mutual enrichment has its own tradition.
Let us do our best to have a future, in the united Europe that we strive for and as a precious part of the mosaic of cultural diversity of the peoples of the world.
Célébrons ensemble la Journée mondiale da la Francophonie autour des valeures universelles qui nous inspirent et nous guident vers l’avenir!
