Dear friends,
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities reminds us of our obligation to build a society of equal opportunities, where support and understanding are the foundation of the daily commitment to the integration of people who express their abilities in a different, but equally significant way.
These individuals are an inseparable part of the magnificent mosaic of our society. With their unique ways of manifesting knowledge, energy, creativity and talent, they radiate precious value and add a special dimension to our everyday lives. Their visibility and active involvement in decision-making processes is necessary, because no one can better and more strongly represent their interests than themselves.
Humanism and solidarity, fundamental values of the constitutional order, oblige us to see diversity as a source of strength and progress, and not as a limitation. Macedonia, as a social state, bases its vision on the postulates of equality and justice for all citizens. Therefore, fair and adequate representation must also apply to persons with disabilities.
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which our country has signed and ratified, is not only a legal document, but also a pledge for full inclusion and active participation of these persons in all spheres of social life.
Let December 3 be a symbol of hope and a call for creation of an inclusive community, where every voice is heard, every right protected, and every opportunity equally available to all. Only in this way will Macedonia be a decent place to live in, a prosperous state and a home for happy and dignified citizens!
