The President of the Republic of North Macedonia and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Stevo Pendarovski, today, at the central ceremony marking August 18th – the Day of the Army, awarded the Order of Military Merit to the Office of Defense Cooperation of the United States of America, the Military Medical Support Battalion of the Logistics Base and the Third Infantry Battalion of the First Infantry Brigade of the Operations Command of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia.
The United States Office of Defense Cooperation is awarded the Order of Military Merit for its continued support and assistance in the process of strengthening the capabilities and standards of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia, as well as for strengthening the cooperation and partnership between the United States and the Republic of North Macedonia.
The Military Medical Support Battalion of the Army Logistics Base is awarded the Order of Military Merit for high professionalism, sacrifice and outstanding contribution to the mission of the unit by preserving and promoting the health of the members of the Army and the Ministry of Defense and thus maintaining the required level of combat readiness, medical support in dealing with and remediation of natural disasters and crises, participation in peacekeeping operations and selfless professional support to the Ministry of Health in dealing with the pandemic of Covid-19.
The third Infantry Battalion of the First Infantry Brigade of the Operations Command is awarded the Order of Military Merit for high professionalism, sacrifice and outstanding contribution to the performance in dealing with and remediation of natural disasters, securing the southern border during migrant crisis and support of the activities for dealing with the pandemic of Covid-19 in the declared crisis regions in the municipalities of Debar and Centar Zupa.
In his address on the occasion of August 18th, President Pendarovski stressed that the Order of Military Merit for the US Office of Defense Cooperation is a symbolic expression of our gratitude to the United States and the friendly American people for all the support over the past decades since our independence. Decorating the Military Medical Support Battalion of the Logistics Base and the Third Infantry Battalion of the First Infantry Brigade of the Operations Command, the President said, we pay tribute to all members of the Army who have been engaged in dealing with the consequences of the pandemic in the past months.
