Pendarovski-Kluge: Citizens need to be informed from relevant sources; we should avoid creating epidemic on the basis of fake news

The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, received today Hans Kluge, Regional Director of the World Health Organization for Europe.

At the meeting, they discussed the current situation with the coronavirus in our country, as well as the latest information on the situation with this virus worldwide.

At the meeting, the WHO Director for Europe, Hans Kluge, assessed that our country has good capacities and that it is taking real steps in terms of readiness to deal with coronavirus. He pointed out that there is no room for panic and that it is important for the citizens to be informed from relevant sources, in order to prevent creation of epidemic on the basis of fake news, which was affirmed by President Pendarovski.

The meeting also discussed the air pollution in our country, with President Pendarovski saying that his commitment is to put this problem high on the agenda, citing the example of the Security Council meeting which was attended by NGO representatives who discussed air pollution as a security risk in the country.

Hans Kluge, World Health Organization Regional Director for Europe, is visiting our country on the occasion of the Second National Health Forum entitled “Healthy Mothers, Healthy Newborns: North Macedonia Responds to the Challenges”, organized by the Ministry of Health and supported by the World Health Organization.
