The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, within the official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, Heiko Maas.
The meeting exchanged views on the overall bilateral relations between the Republic of North Macedonia and the Federal Republic of Germany, and it was concluded that the two countries have built relations of friendship, marked with trust and mutual respect. President Pendarovski assessed that the Federal Republic of Germany is a key political partner and the largest trading partner of the Republic of North Macedonia, a state that constantly supports our aspirations for membership in the European Union and NATO. President Pendarovski expressed satisfaction with the ratification of the Accession Protocol of the Republic of North Macedonia to NATO in the German Bundestag.
President Pendarovski and Minister Maas exchanged views on recent developments related to the European integration of the Republic of North Macedonia. President Pendarovski pointed out that the Republic of North Macedonia in the past period made a lot of efforts in meeting the European criteria and stressed that the implementation of the reform agenda will continue. In that direction, President Pendarovski reaffirmed the expectation for setting a date for the start of accession negotiations with the European Union.
