4 May 2020 | Press Releases

The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, had a video conversation today with the President of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the overall prospects for developing bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries, which established diplomatic relations in February 2019.

President Pendarovski thanked President Zourabichvili for her congratulations on North Macedonia’s membership in NATO and the decision to start EU membership talks, as a long-term strategic goal that the country has been working on. In this regard, the President added that we are ready to share our experience and support with all countries that are on that path.

The interlocutors exchanged views and information on the situation in their countries, related to dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. President Pendarovski briefed President Zourabichvili on the measures taken by state authorities in the fight against the virus.

The two presidents agreed that there should be a global response to the pandemic as a global problem, through mutual cooperation and solidarity.

President Pendarovski informed President Zourabichvili on the agreement reached for Georgia’s new ambassador to North Macedonia, resident in Sofia, hoping to open up new opportunities for developing bilateral relations.  Both presidents discussed strengthening the dialogue at the highest level, with President Pendarovski thanking for the invitation to visit Georgia.
