The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, held today an informative meeting with the members of the working group for contribution to the creation of the Law on Youth (Law on Youth Participation and Youth Policies).
At the meeting, the members of the working group informed President Pendarovski about their activities in the past period, expressing confidence that with this Law, young people will be actively involved in all social trends on which depends the European future of the Republic of North Macedonia. The interlocutors emphasized the exceptional importance of the Law, which provides an opportunity for organized youth participation and representation of policies before the institutions, as well as for joint creation thereof with the institutions.
President Pendarovski expressed satisfaction with the process of resolving this important issue for the youth and the achieved consensus in the process, since it includes representatives from the government, the opposition, youth organizations and youth political parties, assessing that this is an indicator of the maturity of one society.
The meeting confirmed the commitment of all involved parties to contribute the important issues to be brought with a joint decision and welcomed the transparency of the process, as a very important component for decision-making.
President Pendarovski stressed that creating successful policies for young people that will create opportunities for all young people here in our country is possible only if they are included in the process, being a strong creative engine of every country.
Only in that way, the President said, it is possible to create an ambience and to change the current sad image of young people seeing their future outside of their homeland instead of in their homeland. Therefore, he emphasized, the youth in North Macedonia is one of his priorities; their opinion must be heard in the direction of making quality and sustainable solutions, because the prosperity and well-being of each society is closely related to the development of the young population.
In me, the President said, you will always have an honest interlocutor and supporter to resolve this issue completely and encouraged them to continue together and congratulated them on the perseverance, persistence and efforts invested so far.
In the past period, young people from all over the country had the opportunity to share their opinions, suggestions, ideas and views on the draft text of the Law in public debates that were organized in several cities in the Republic of North Macedonia. The debates and the initiative for the Law on Youth Participation and Youth Policies, supported by the OSCE Mission, were organized by the working group comprised of representatives from the Parliamentary Club for Youth Issues and Policies of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, the Agency for Youth and Sports and the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, as well as representatives of the youth organizations, National Youth Council of Macedonia, Coalition of Youth Organizations SEGA and youth from the political parties SDSM, BESA, VMRO-DPMNE and DUI.
