The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, today, in Novi Sad, participated and addressed the 4th Regional Youth Forum – Presidential Panel.

Referring to the current situation in the region, President Pendarovski said that our societies can prosper if we make more use of our domestic resources and potential.

He added that the region is heavily dependent on international assistance, mainly from the EU and NATO.

Pointing out that in the next decade as well the Western Balkan region will depend on what the European Union has to offer, President Pendarovski reiterated that the decision not to give North Macedonia a date for negotiations was unpleasant not only for North Macedonia and Albania, but also for the whole region.

Waiting for a precisely defined new methodology proposed by France and eventual start of negotiations with the European Union, as President Pendarovski added, North Macedonia and all countries in the region awaiting a date for negotiation or are in a long negotiation process, should strengthen regional cooperation.

“If we implement the values of the European Union in our countries, we will be able to keep young people in the country. Young people can go wherever they want and no one can stop them. But we, as responsible politicians, must offer them opportunities here, at home, so that they have the first chance to succeed here. Only if we offer them that, can we hope to make them stay in their home countries”, President Pendarovski concluded at the presidential panel during the 4th Regional Youth Forum, held in Novi Sad, Serbia.
