President Pendarovski has telephone call with Miroslav Lajcak, EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue

The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, had a telephone conversation today with Miroslav Lajcak, Special Representative of the European Union for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue and other issues in the Western Balkans.

In the conversation, the interlocutors exchanged views and information on the current political situation in the region, the importance of regional cooperation, the European Union enlargement process, as well as the assistance that the Union and member states provide to countries in the region in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

President Pendarovski stated that with the appointment of the Special Representative, the European Union, following the decision to open membership negotiations with North Macedonia and Albania, sends an additional positive signal that the Region is among the Union’s priorities.

President Pendarovski expressed support for the mission of the Special Representative Lajcak and stressed that the contribution of the European Union is more than necessary in order to find an acceptable solution within the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.

At the end, congratulating the recent appointment to the responsible position, President Pendarovski wished the Special Representative Lajcak success in his work.
