The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, received today the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Air Chief Marshal Stuart Peach, who is paying an official visit to the Republic of North Macedonia.
Opinions and information on current processes in the country were exchanged at the meeting, in the light of our soon expected NATO membership.
At the meeting, President Pendarovski was briefed on the current situation in Iraq and the Middle East.
Full membership in NATO, President Pendarovski said, is one of the key strategic priorities of North Macedonia, defined since the beginning of its independence.
Contributing to NATO-led international missions and exercises, according to President Pendarovski, is proof that our Army is ready to contribute to the collective security system of the Alliance.
President Pendarovski reaffirmed the support for further reforms in the Army and for increase of its budget to 2% of GDP by 2024.
The meeting reaffirmed the Alliance’s support for the forthcoming phase of finalizing our country’s NATO integration and underlined that the Republic of North Macedonia, from a valuable partner, will become an ally in the Alliance.
