President Stevo Pendarovski received today General Eirik Kristoffersen, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Kingdom of Norway.
The meeting discussed the overall bilateral cooperation in the field of defence, which includes activities in the field of military medical cooperation, training and cooperation between military academies, as well as joint participation and contribution to international peacekeeping operations.
President Pendarovski expressed his gratitude for the overall support from Norway in the process of implementation of NATO standards and the transformation of our Army, for assistance and donations to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as financial support for building the country’s democratic capacity.
The interlocutors exchanged information and opinions on the developments in Ukraine, the two new candidacies for NATO membership and the strengthening of the eastern wing of the Alliance, as well as the security challenges facing Europe. In this regard, the President pointed out that, as a NATO member, we will continue to provide military, humanitarian and diplomatic support to Ukraine in order to stop Russian aggression.
The President expressed readiness to further enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of defence and strengthen the NATO alliance in order to meet the common goals of collective security and peace on the European continent.
The possibilities for conducting joint exercise activities at the Krivolak military range were also discussed at the meeting.
