The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, received today Paola Severino, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office on combating corruption.
At the meeting, President Pendarovski stressed that the Republic of North Macedonia highly appreciates the long-term fruitful cooperation with the OSCE, as well as the support and assistance that the state receives in its efforts to improve the rule of law, the judicial system, the electoral reform, the inter-ethnic relations and the decentralization process.
President Pendarovski expressed the country’s readiness to continue its cooperation with the OSCE, in line with the national priorities, in particular with regard to the implementation of the national strategies and action plans, by providing expertise and legislative advice.
Emphasizing the importance of systematic fight against corruption, President Pendarovski mentioned the adoption of the National Strategy for Prevention of Corruption and Conflicts of Interest (2020-2024) as an important step towards reducing corruption opportunities and securing public confidence in strengthening government integrity, transparency and accountability in all sectors of society. President Pendarovski reaffirmed the need for the strategy to be adopted soon in the Parliament.
The meeting stressed the importance of adopting the Law on Public Prosecutor’s Office.
