President Pendarovski meets with Philip Reeker: Further strengthening of the strategic partnership is in the interest of both countries

President Stevo Pendarovski received today at Villa Biljana in Ohrid Philip Reeker, Acting Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs of the United States.

The meeting focused on the implementation of the foreign policy priorities of the Republic of North Macedonia, the improvement of relations with the United States, the EU integration, as well as the current situation in the region.

The interlocutors reaffirmed the partnership relations between the Republic of North Macedonia and the United States, the excellent cooperation and alliance within the NATO Alliance, as well as the readiness to further intensify cooperation in all other areas.

President Pendarovski stressed that North Macedonia remains committed to the reform processes, building good neighborly relations and active participation in all initiatives aimed at promoting regional cooperation.

“The United States is our longtime ally and principled supporter of the reforms in the defense and security sectors, the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary, public administration. We remain committed to strengthening the strategic partnership and encouraging even deeper friendly relations between the two countries”, President Pendarovski said at the meeting.

The President pointed out that EU membership remains our strategic goal and that the Union must find a way to value what has been done so far and enable unblocking of the European integration process. “Any further delay in the start of negotiations increases Euro-skepticism of citizens and has a negative impact on the political situation in the country”, President Pendarovski added at a meeting with Reeker.
