President Stevo Pendarovski received today representatives of the Office of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Skopje and the National Coordinator for Prevention of Violent Extremism and Fight against Terrorism.
The meeting discussed the overall activities of the organization in our country related to migration, their engagement in the two transit centers on the southern and northern borders, as well as the measures taken by the organization in the context of the global pandemic of COVID-19.
Pointing out the importance of IOM’s partnership with state institutions, President Pendarovski thanked for the overall assistance provided by the organization in dealing with migration, preventing violent extremism, strengthening border security, cross-border cooperation, assistance to street children, support for youth organizations, support for people with disabilities, support for vulnerable categories of citizens, etc.
President Pendarovski expressed expectation for further deepening of the cooperation of the Republic of North Macedonia with IOM, in order to further strengthen the capacities of the country in the field of migration, in accordance with international standards.
