President Pendarovski meets with the Austrian Ambassador Voutsas

President Stevo Pendarovski received today the Ambassador of the Republic of Austria, Georg Voutsas.

The current situation in both countries was discussed at the meeting.

President Pendarovski assessed that North Macedonia and Austria are continuously building friendly and partnership relations in several areas of mutual interest, pointing out that Austria is among the most important economic and trade partners of our country.

At the meeting, President Pendarovski stressed the importance of Austria’s continued support for North Macedonia’s aspirations for membership in the European Union, referring to the importance of holding the intergovernmental conference soon and the formal start of accession negotiations.

In the context of the current situation related to the Covid-19 pandemic, President Pendarovski thanked Austria for its efforts to administer the distribution of Pfizer/BioNTek vaccines from the European Union to the Western Balkan countries, including North Macedonia, which should receive on this basis 119,000 doses of vaccines by the end of August. President Pendarovski thanked for the demonstrated solidarity and assessed that the European Union and the Republic of Austria with this act make a significant contribution to the fight of the Western Balkan countries with the pandemic.
