President Pendarovski meets with the Bulgarian President Rumen Radev

President Stevo Pendarovski welcomed today the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev, at the Skopje International Airport and, afterwards, the two presidents had a short tete-a-tete meeting.

The bilateral relations between North Macedonia and Bulgaria were discussed at the meeting, in the context of the Agreement on Good Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation between the two countries. Both presidents expressed strong commitment to strengthening good neighborly relations and advancing the political dialogue between North Macedonia and Bulgaria.

President Pendarovski stressed that the formal start of accession negotiations for our country’s membership in the European Union and the holding of the first intergovernmental conference between the EU and North Macedonia will positively affect the stability and prosperity of the entire region and expressed his expectation for the Republic of Bulgaria’s support on the eve of the June EU Council.

The joint commemoration of St. Cyril and Methodius in Rome of the Macedonian and Bulgarian delegations, led by the heads of state, Presidents Pendarovski and Radev assessed as a positive step that contributes to strengthening good neighborly relations and mutual trust between the two countries and the two peoples.

The two presidents made statements to the media at the Skopje International Airport.

After the meeting held at the Skopje International Airport, the two presidents traveled by the state plane of the Republic of Bulgaria to Rome, where they will jointly pay tribute to the work of the all-Slavic educators, the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius.
