President Pendarovski meets with the Commander of the Vermont National Guard, Major General Gregory Knight

President Stevo Pendarovski received today the Commander of the Vermont National Guard, Major General Gregory Knight.

The meeting discussed the ongoing successful and fruitful cooperation between the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Vermont National Guard, through joint participation in peacekeeping missions, implementation of joint exercises, education and training of members of both armies.

The interlocutors concluded that North Macedonia’s membership in NATO provides additional contribution to the progress, development and stability of the Balkans.

President Pendarovski thanked for the overall US assistance, as well as for the support in the field of defense, which is the basis for expanding cooperation in other areas of common interest.

Major General Gregory Knight stressed the role of the Macedonian Armed Forces and their participation in international missions as extremely successful and underlined that NATO membership of North Macedonia is more than deserved.

At the meeting, the interlocutors exchanged views and information on the current situation in Afghanistan, where our Army and the Vermont National Guard act coordinated in the missions, aimed at ensuring stability and promoting the building of a democratic society.
