President Stevo Pendarovski met today with the Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of North Macedonia, Anita Angelovska-Bezoska, and discussed the current developments in the banking sector in the country.
Governor Angelovska-Bezoska informed President Pendarovski about the reasons for revoking the license for establishment and operation of “Eurostandard Bank” AD and about the activities that are being undertaken in a coordinated and intensive manner so that the compensation of the depositors could start within the legal deadlines or even earlier. The interlocutors stressed that it is important to invest the maximum for the soonest start of the payment of compensation to citizens by the Deposit Insurance Fund even before the legally prescribed period of 20 days.
The President stressed that it is necessary for all competent institutions to make maximum efforts in finding solutions that will enable compensation in favor of depositors. He also expressed expectation that the banking system will remain stable.
At the meeting, President Pendarovski stressed that it is especially important for the National Bank to continue achieving its legal goals and objectives successfully, making a key contribution to the successful monetary policy, financial and macroeconomic stability of the country.
