President Stevo Pendarovski, today in Abu Dhabi, met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi.
At the meeting, opinions were exchanged about the possibilities for deepening bilateral relations, intensifying economic cooperation, current international and regional issues, as well as external priorities and political situations in both countries.
President Pendarovski congratulated him on his appointment as the new President of the United Arab Emirates and expressed confidence that the United Arab Emirates will remain committed to maintaining regional and global peace and security, as our common commitments.
The meeting confirmed the positive development of bilateral relations between the two countries and expressed the expectation that good political dialogue, multilateral cooperation and mutual respect will continue with the same dynamics in the future, which will result in concrete cooperation in several areas of mutual interest.
The President emphasized North Macedonia’s interest in promoting economic cooperation and trade with the United Arab Emirates. In order to encourage and promote cooperation between business communities, the President emphasized the need to improve the legal framework between the two countries and encouraged initiatives to conclude bilateral agreements and agreements for cooperation in several areas. The meeting discussed the establishment of a direct flight line Skopje-Abu Dhabi and welcomed the initiatives to support investment and infrastructure projects by the UAE, which are of strategic interest for North Macedonia and the Western Balkans region.
As part of his official visit to the United Arab Emirates, President Pendarovski visited Wahat Al Karama – the Oasis of Dignity, where he laid flowers and paid tribute to the martyrs and heroes of the United Arab Emirates.
President Pendarovski also visited the Great Mosque of Sheikh Zayed as one of the imposing architectural works in the United Arab Emirates, in the construction of which materials from Prilep were used.
At the same time, President Pendarovski visited the Abraham Family House, which captures the common values of Judaism, Christianity and Islam with its design and mission and serves as a platform and educational center for mutual understanding, acceptance and tolerance.
The visit of President Pendarovski to the United Arab Emirates is the first visit at the level of head of state. During the visit, as a token of excellent cooperation established between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, a Memorandum on the abolition of visas for holders of diplomatic and official passports between the Republic of North Macedonia and the United Arab Emirates was signed.
