The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, received the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden, Mats Staffansson.
The two interlocutors exchanged views on the overall bilateral relations between the Republic of North Macedonia and the Kingdom of Sweden, which are characterized by friendship and mutual understanding. President Pendarovski expressed his expectation for further deepening of the bilateral relations between the two countries and pointed to the need for intensifying the communication at the highest level.
At the meeting, President Pendarovski stressed the importance of the continuing Swedish support for the integration of the Republic of North Macedonia into the European Union. In that direction, President Pendarovski expressed his expectation for a recent setting of a date for the start of accession negotiations with the European Union, noting that the future membership of the Republic of North Macedonia and the countries of the region in the European Union is an important precondition for securing progress and lasting stability.
Ambassador Staffansson conveyed congratulations to President Pendarovski from King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and the Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven on the occasion of his assuming of office and wished him success in his work.
