At the initiative of the President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, a coordinating meeting was held today on the occasion of the adoption of the National Program for Implementation of the event “2021-Year in Honor of Blaze Koneski”, project under the patronage of President Pendarovski, with the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Education and Science as project holders.
“The modern Macedonian literary language is invaluable for our culture, literature and identity. Therefore, we have a moral duty to preserve the heritage left to us by Blaze Koneski as a contemporary cultural heritage and to celebrate with dignity the jubilee of the person who is a paradigm for our modernity, emancipation and progressiveness. It is a great honor and pleasure for me to be the patron of the National Program that we dedicate to the great man of Macedonian culture and literature”, President Pendarovski said.
The online meeting was attended by the Minister of Culture, Irena Stefoska, representatives of the involved institutions, as well as members of the working group for implementation of the National Program for Celebrating “2021 – Year in Honor of Blaze Koneski”, who presented the planned contents of the Program. President Pendaroski was also informed about the current projects and activities undertaken by the line ministries in view of implementation of the platform.
The National Program “2021 – Year in Honor of Blaze Koneski” envisages numerous cultural and educational contents throughout the year. Academic and scientific publishing projects, literary events, international scientific conferences, public competitions for young artists and exhibitions, pedagogical-information projects, promotion of a digital edition of the interpretative dictionary of the Macedonian language, are part of the activities that will mark the jubilee. According to the National Program, a postage stamp with the image of Blaze Koneski will be printed.
The celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Blaze Koneski is recorded in the calendar of significant anniversaries supported by UNESCO, which is an international recognition for his personality and work.
Internationally, with the “Year in Honor of Blaze Koneski”, the Republic of North Macedonia joins the celebration of “2021 – International Year of Peace and Confidence” and “March 21 – World Poetry Day”, proclaimed by the UN.
