The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, received today representatives of the Faculty of Philology “Blaze Koneski” – Skopje and the Association of French Language Teachers of the Republic of Macedonia.
The professors briefed the President on the activities of the Association on the eve of the 20th of March – the International Day of Francophonie and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the International Organization of Francophonie, on the status of studying French language and culture in the country, as well as on the cultural activities of the Association in the establishment of Macedonian-French ties.
At the meeting, President Pendarovski underlined the importance that the Republic of North Macedonia attaches to the membership in the Francophonie, by accepting the fundamental principles and values of this organization, which are in line with the country’s strategic commitments for EU and NATO membership. In this context, President Pendarovski said, was the appointment of Ambassador Pajo Avirovik as Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of North Macedonia to the Permanent Council of the International Organization of Francophonie at the end of last year.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the International Organization of Francophonie, President Pendarovski accepted the invitation to be the patron of the Francophone activities in the Republic of North Macedonia in 2020.
