President Pendarovski receives credentials of newly appointed Serbian Ambassador Nevena Jovanovic

President Stevo Pendarovski received today the letters of credence of Nevena Jovanovic, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Republic of North Macedonia.

At the ceremony of presenting the credentials, President Pendarovski stressed that the two friendly countries and the two peoples are linked by long-standing traditional friendship, close cultural ties and intensive cooperation in many areas of common interest.

“The high level of development of dynamic bilateral relations was confirmed by the close cooperation during the humanitarian crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and dealing with its consequences”, President Pendarovski said and added that he expects the cooperation between the two countries to intensify further.

“In the future, I expect the two friendly countries to use all potentials and prioritize cooperation on specific bilateral and regional projects, in the economy and trade, investment, infrastructure, energy, as well as in all other areas of mutual interest, including culture and education, issues of importance for the sustainable development of the region, such as interconnection, mobility and addressing the issues of concern of young people”, President Pendarovski added.

Assessing that the continuation of the regular political dialogue and mutual consultations are fully in function of upgrading and deepening good neighborly relations, President Pendarovski stressed the respect and promotion of the treatment and status of the Macedonian community in Serbia and the Serb community in North Macedonia.

“They are a bridge between our two countries. I give my full support to the opening of cultural centers in Belgrade and Skopje, and I hope that the two countries’ governments will implement this project during this year”, President Pendarovski concluded.

Emphasizing that the relations between the two countries are marked by a positive trend and contribute to the stability of the entire region, Ambassador Jovanovic said that Serbia pays great attention to the relations with North Macedonia, as one of the closest neighbors and is deeply interested in their further improvement in all areas.

“The Republic of Serbia supports the friendly North Macedonia in its European aspirations, taking into account the fact that our entire region has a place in the European Union, as a space to which we belong geographically, historically and culturally”, Ambassador Jovanovic said at the ceremony of presenting the letters of credence.

President Pendarovski wished the newly appointed Ambassador of Serbia to North Macedonia, Nevena Jovanovic, success in performing her responsible diplomatic function.
