The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, received today the letters of credence of Marija Petrovic, the newly appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Montenegro to the Republic of North Macedonia.
President Pendarovski congratulated her appointment and expressed interest and readiness for further strengthening and deepening of the bilateral relations between the two countries. The President stressed that the strong and unreserved support from Montenegro for the Euro-Atlantic perspective of the Republic of North Macedonia has always been of particular importance to us.
In that context, President Pendarovski expressed gratitude for the ratification of the Accession Protocol of the Republic of North Macedonia to NATO by the Assembly of Montenegro.
“On this occasion, I would like to emphasize that Montenegro is our proven friend, and that our bilateral relations are characterized by frank and open dialogue, confirmed by the cooperation in all fields of common interest, as well as with the regular meetings at the highest level”, President Pendarovski said, assessing that the constructive dialogue is a result of the two countries’ mutual will to maintain the positive trend in the bilateral cooperation, to contribute to the stability and security of our region, but also to the common European future.
“I am convinced that in the coming period, we will continue our efforts to intensify the cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, bilaterally, regionally and internationally. I expect the excellent cooperation and mutual support at regional level, especially within the Brdo-Brijuni Process, as well as on multilateral level, to continue and intensify”, the President said.
The newly appointed Ambassador of Montenegro to the Republic of North Macedonia, Marija Petrovic expressed confidence that her term will be in function of the excellent bilateral relations and friendly ties between the two countries.
“The support for the Republic of North Macedonia to become part of NATO was and is high on the agenda of Montenegrin foreign policy; we are obliged thereto by the traditional closeness and friendship of our peoples, but also the Euro-Atlantic partnership and the values on which they are based”, Ambassador Petrovic said.
The Ambassador expressed hope that our European story will be just as successful and that the Republic of North Macedonia deserves to open the negotiations very soon.
“Membership in the Alliance for the modern North Macedonia, just like Montenegro, is a strategic and valuable choice, a civilization step forward that transcends the framework of daily politics. The same applies to the EU membership”, the Montenegrin Ambassador Petrović said.
President Pendarovski wished Ambassador Petrovic much success in the performance of the ambassadorial duties.
